I was lucky enough to see this musical movement arrive in France in the early 1990s. At the time, I was a DJ at a Parisian club called Le Boy and at the first French radio station broadcasting only dance music: Maxximum.

Through this double album, I wanted to revive some iconic sounds from that 1988-1995 period.

I proposed pooling all the ideas from the "Space Invaders of production," sorting through them, giving advice, and sharing my producer experience with everyone. And the magic happened. There were over 1,200 people registered on a Discord server, resulting in 2,619 submissions of rhythms, basslines, original vocal instrumental gimmicks, samples, sound design... amounting to nearly 1 terabyte of sound.

I would like to thank the hundreds of participants and especially the co-composers whose elements I selected for these 16 tracks.

Joachim Garraud

https://shop.joachimgarraud.com/en/products/joachim-garraud-friends-album-en-edition-digitale-24-48-telechargeable
